About Somerset Disability Lifestyle Community Inclusion. (Izaac Brindley Association Inc)
We are an emerging group of people whose ambition is to enable people to be the best they want to be, deepen individual leadership, learn, make a positive difference, contribute and have positive experiences through:
Leadership Life skilling Encouragement Guidance Friendship Sharing Kindness Being happy Having fun Respect Learning responsibilities Mutual interests & much more!
We understand the struggles many people who are at risk and people with disabilities have with community inclusion, appropriate work placement, social participation, a happy good life and being valued for their contribution in society.
Somerset Disability Lifestyle Community Inclusion. is a Non Profit Organisation, conducting programs, clinics, educational and fun activities based around horses, animals, country life and mutual peer interests.
We will apply for grants and funding to keep cost to a minimum as we also understand finances can deter people from following their ambitions and dreams. We are slowly applying for funding through various groups, government departments and associations this is a daunting task and it is our aim to assist and direct others to available areas of funding to improve their life as funding has done for Izaac.
Izaac Brindley had discovered a deep love of Cutting* and is now exploring other horse disciplines, including reining, dressage, trail riding, team penning, pleasure driving, working cow horse and anything else to do with horses.
Izaac has learned through various horse trainers and coaches knowledge of horses and cutting to a point where Izaac has his sights set on competing on his own horse with his tailor made saddle (TPM Saddles). That is only one of Izaac's dreams, along with getting his own driving license, truck license, heavy machinery license, running his own business, independent living and much more.
*CUTTING: A cutting horse is an athletic and willing animal possessing an innate 'cow sense' and ability to respond quickly and turn sharply that is trained to keep a cow from returning to the herd.

Why are we so motivated?
Traditional support service of sitting in a community centre with a middle aged carer watching an old dvd after doing hand painting was the catalyst for Izaac to turn around and say no more. No more being controlled, no more being told what limited things he can do, no more negative, no more isolation from choices and having a go at something more, no more inappropriate social treatment.
Izaac wanted more, more normal, more choice, more fun, more valued life, more appreciation as a person.
This does not alter the fact that Izaac has medical and physical challenges, he simply works through and around them. Izaac has many scars from surgery but the worse scar is the way he was treated for 18 years in traditional “education”, care centers and society.
Over 11 years ago, Izaac had a taste of being around horses from RDA which was enjoyable but for him had limited riding opportunities and experiences. Izaac went to a cutting clinic a year ago and found his passion in life.
Through medical struggles, tests, illness, medication, specialist waiting lists, surgical waiting lists anticipating a good result which never comes, Izaac has held onto the dream of the reality of pursuing his goal to be with and live around horses and in particular train his own cutting horse. Izaac met a mentor a Horseman and immediately a bond formed and Izaac has moved so far forward in his horsemanship if you knew what he suffers as medical conditions you would be amazed, this is what Determination can DO. Izaac's confidence and ability have bloomed after being around caring horse owners and trainers. Izaac is quite an accomplished horseman now regardless of all the detractors and barriers he was determined to do it. With the support of genuine caring people around him, Izaac has started his organisation Somerset Disability Lifestyle Community Inclusion.
Through Somerset Disability Lifestyle Community Inclusion, Izaac will be offering programs based around the sport of cutting horses, equine care, other horse and country related activities, with social interaction of like minded people enjoying life in a respectful and kind manner for all humans and animals.
